I've loved this name since I was a little girl and I've always thought I'd name a daughter Sophia but I hate that it's so popular right now! I've heard that Top 10 names now are actually less common than Top 10 names in the past because there's more variation in names but I really don't want to give a really common name. Thoughts? Or suggestions of similar names that are less popular?

Yah I'm like you! I have always loved the name Sophia but i see it so much now there is NO WAY ill be using that name if we have a girl! And Sophia is #1 on the top 10 list. UGH! lol

We also like this name but hate the popularity... so we're considering Zofia. We like the spin off of it alot.

haha...I was checking out this board because I was going to pose the same question to everyone.  My favorite name that I have always loved is Isabel/isabella but now I'm debating using it because of the same reason. So I can't help...I'm in the same boat as you, not sure whether to use it or not now.

I am here to defend the name Sophia lol my lil one is Sophia Valerie. Rem popularity tends change so I did not let that stop me.

I felt the same, but when i decided on the name Sophia Ramona May. I fell in love and didnt let popularity stop me. look at it this way, would you not wear something or buy something because it is popular and is made in masses and hundreds of other people have the same thing?? If you love it go for it.
