So, we have been working (not forcing) potty training with my now 2 1/2 year old for 5 months. She still won't tell me when she needs to go potty. We just put her on 6-8 times a day, and she usually goes 3-4 times a day. Lately, she has been not even doing that much. It's always 2 steps forward, one step back.
Should I just put her in underwear with plastic covers, and hope that she makes the decision to use the potty or wait a few more months.
Getting frustrated.
Re: What's the next step??? (In a PT rut)
for DD we went from diaper straight to underwear. she had quite a few accidents the first 2 days but has only had maybe 5 since then in the last month & a 1/2 for the 1st week she wore diapers to bed at night but then refused to. she hasn't had ANY accidents in over 2 weeks. good luck.
p.s. I've been told that pull up &/or plastic covers will make them feel like its still a diaper. after a couple days of peeing on herself she refused to let it happen any more.
We played the potty training game for 6 months. Sometimes he'd go, sometimes he wouldn't - he was in pull-ups. Right before Thanksgiving I got hardcore and put him in underwear 24/7. He went a lot, but made a few messes for a few days as well. It took about 3 weeks but he's completely trained now!
The first week he wore ONLY underwear and we kept the little potty in the living room (where we spend most of our time).
