Hi all,
First pregnancy and just found out last week I'm having twins! Double the excitement and the fears . My husband & I were thinking of places to go for our babymoon. I was thinking Colorado or Memphis (always wanted to visit Graceland). Just hoping to go to some nice restaurants, relax, and get a prenatal massage. We know how life changing parenthood will be and wanted to take a long weekend to ourselves. I was wondering if the travel restrictions for twins is sooner than with singletons? I would want to be comfortable and feeling pretty good so is 4months a reasonable time to travel with twins? Thanks
Re: babymoon with twins?
4 months would be perfect - we had a trip scheduled to Aruba for 5 months and we ended up having to cancel.
Just rest a lot and listen to your body. Of course get trip insurance just in case you have to go on bedrest early!
4 Fresh IVF cycles + 1 FET where embies didn't survive the thaw = 2 perfect little men!
sFET 11/9/11 - Beta 11/18 BFP!
Congrats and Welcome!!
We did a babymoon when I was about 5 months along. It was amazing and I'm so glad we did it! We just lounged, relaxed, and had a great trip! I just made sure to bring copies of my med records, checked to make sure there was emergency care nearby if need be, and had my MFM check me out before traveling.
GL!
We're from Denver and did a "staycation" at 20w. It was great timing and I'm glad we didn't do it any later. A few weeks earlier would have been even better.
I blogged about it if you search staycation in my blog. We had a blast going downtown for the weekend like tourists.
Based on my experience, I wouldn't book it past 20 weeks. Around 20 weeks, I flew to Maine, and that was fine -- no problems. Then our "babymoon" was scheduled for less than 2 weeks later out in Vegas. My husband had a conference out there, so the dates were non-negotiable. 6 hours before the flight, I started leaking fluid. So instead of the Venetian, I got the hospital. And I haven't left!
For what it's worth, at my 22 week appt (4 days before scheduled departure/hospital admission), everything was fine so I (again) asked my MFM if I could make the trip. She said sure, but make sure you're aware that if something goes wrong, you could end up in a hospital in Vegas until you deliver. I think that's good advice.
