Re: ob apt

  • Yeap My OB put me on them before I got pregnant with my son. I think they told me it was better to start taking them about 3 months before TTC.

  • Yes taking folic acid for three months prior to TTC can cut your rate of neural tube defects significantly.
  • Yes. I went to my yearly last week and they put me on folic acid because I wasn't able to take prenatals.
  • Yes, I've heard the same. ?It's especially important for the folic acid.

  • Yep.  My OB just told me to keep taking them until I was done having kids.  He put me on additional Folic acid for a few months before I had my IUD taken out.

  • This is good to hear. I haven't stopped taking them yet (despite not TTC). My stomach tolerates them much better than ordinary vitamins and it's a habit I just never stopped.

  • I never heard it from my OB, but I took OTC prenatals before TTC. I don't remember who gave me the information.
  • Women of childbearing age who have the potential to become pregnant should be taking a daily prenatal. Of course, I don't always do this, but this is the recommendation I'm pretty sure.
