I completely spaced out while driving today. WTH?

I was going to pick A up from pre-K and all of a sudden I panicked. I completely forgot where I was going and then thought I was going the wrong way even though it's one of my normal routes ... I was just all out of sorts and it took me a minute to get my bearings. And, it's not the first time it's happened. Sheesh. I feel like I might be losing it sometimes.

  • There are so many times that I feel like I'm on auto-pilot.  I'll get halfway to where I'm going and realize that I don't even remember anything about the first half of the drive.  It's kind of scary.

  • The very same thing was happening to my MIL a couple of years ago. Seeing that she's older, she freaked out and kept it a secret, thinking she was getting Alzh. It progressed into her getting severely dizzy (to where she would fall over while sitting down), which then would set off a panic attack, which put her in the hospital a couple of times. Anyway - the point is that it turned out there was something wrong with her inner ear. After about 2 months of some (strange) physical therapy, she's been fine ever since.

  • Oh, wow, Dai. That's crazy. I actually do get dizzy quite a bit but attribute it to being tired or not eating. Glad she's better.

  • I've lived in the same area I currently live in for 12 years and my parents have lived in the same area since I was born and I completely missed my exit on my way to my parents' house for Thanksgiving. Talk about a space cadet! LOL

Something similar happened to my SIL..she was Dizzy ALLLLL the time though...like she said it constantly felt like the room was spinning.  She couldn't concentrate and everything was just extra work for her....she had EVERY test done to her under the sun...all the inner ear stuff, etc, etc, etc.  FINALLY they figure out that it was a really bad side effect of the flu shot.  It went away about 3 months later...the same length of time that the flu shot is supposed to protect you.

That would be enough for me to quit getting a flu shot..but she still goes and has never had that happen again.
