Pregnant after a Loss

Silly question

My dresser/changing table has a strap with a buckle on it.  It came with a thin pad that was buckled in.  Is the buckle to keep the pad on... or the baby on?  Either way it seems really uncomfortable and it's right in the middle.  I really don't see the point of it either way, can i tuck it underneath the pad?

Re: Silly question

  • The strap is for the baby. I just tucked it away with DS and didn't use it because I was standing right there with him.  I think I may have used it once when I had to walk across the room to grab something.

  • The strap that buckles is for the baby. Ours also came with 2 other straps that are nailed into the back of the changing table so that it doesn't slide.

  • the strap is for the baby.  I don't see how it really helps though. I mean the baby could just roll off with the changing pad strapped to them. Of course we all would keep one hand on the baby at all times, but that was my first thought with the straps.

  • I ditched the thin pad mine came with and just went with a nice comfy serta one (DH picked it out) and I just tucked the strap because the sides of the table are high so the pad doesn't move and I don't intend on leaving baby alone on the table.

Well this one the straps are connected to the table, not the pad.  I thought you always keep one hand on the baby, so why would you need a strap?  But what do I know, I don't have a kid yet :)  Anywho, thanks ladies!

Ohhhhhhhhhhhhhhh okay. lol I know someone on the tri boards would probably be shocked that you actually have to keep one hand on the baby. Obviously people forget or else there wouldn't be the warnings on the products.

  • I doubt I will use the strap, but who knows.  As a baby, I fell off the changing table when my mom turned around for "one second" (or so she says! ha!), so maybe I should use the strap afterall!
