If you have one of those clocks so kids know when they can get up....

If you have one of those clocks where they change color or the numbers are different colors or something so that the kids know when it is okay to get up in the morning, which one do you have and do you like it?  Has it helped?  DS has recently been getting up a tad too early and I'm wondering if I should get one of these.

  • We just use a digital clock and have told our son (3.5) that he is not allowed up until 7am (potty ok).  It works fine.
promised myself I'd retire when I turned gold, and yet here I am
  • We have one that shows 2 pictures:  1 the bunny is playing outside, sun shining, 2 bunny is sleeping, it is dark, moon and stars are out.  You set the clock so whatever child is supposed to be doing, that picture lights up.  Totally did not work for us with my headstrong little guy, he could care less what the bunny was doing and continued to get up whenever he wanted!  For us, it was a waste of $40.  Good luck though!!!

  • I was about to buy one but decided to try something else first. DD is 4.5 and we just use her wristwatch. She knows she can get up when the first number is a 7.
  • We have a the Goodnight nightlight. It plugs into an outlet. It turns into a moon glows as a moon when it is time for bed and all night long until it is time to wake up. It turns into a sun when it is time to wake up. It took a little while for her to get it, but now she doesn't come into our room until the "sun is shining".

  • We also have the sun/moon and have been using it for over a year.  DS is now 3.5.  It works in that he knows not to call for us and knows he has to stay in his room.  Sometimes he will get up and play, sometimes he will go back to sleep.
  • I bought a stop light one from Amazon.  The red would light up during the night and the green would come on when it was ok to get up.  I thought it was broken the first morning, but my older son (3.5) had simply turned it off.  He told me that he didn't like it because it prevented him from going into our room ;)  So back it went.
