I was thinking about getting a flu shot and was wondering if anyone else has gotten one since they found out they were preggers or if they aren't getting one now. I know they say it is safe but I'm still nervous.
I asked my primary care when I found out I was pregnant and they called a local OB/GYN who said not to get it during the first trimester so I have not gotten one yet but I think you will find the answer varies from doctor to doctor as to when it is recommended. I am going to ask my mid-wife about it during my first appointment this week.
I got mine at my appointment last week. It was the pregnancy safe one, dead virus' no icky preservatives/fillers. Flu shots highly recommened in pregnancy because you're so much more likely to be hospitalized when pregnant.
I had the flu pre kids, knocked me on my a$$ for a week, I lost 20 lbs, I've never been so sick in my life. I was blacking out, had huge fevers, couldnt eat or drink, horrific. Thats why I get the shot while pregnant because its scary.

I got my flu shot at 6 weeks. Both my primary and OB doctors told me to get it. I didn't have any adverse side effects from it. Just make sure to get the preservative-free version if you do get the shot.
I'm kind of torn on this subject. I got one last year b/c there was some sort of promotion where you bought one at a local pharmacy and they "gave" a second one to someone else for free. My MIL insisted that we have them together, so I got it. I don't remember which one I got, but I felt horrible for a few days after. Low grade fever, headache, loss of appetite, etc. Because of that, I'm kind of leery of doing it again. Maybe if I just requested the "dead version" it wouldn't be so bad.

My OB recommends waiting until after the first trimester. I've never gotten a flu shot before, and I'm not thrilled about it, but after I looked into it the risks of NOT getting it are just too high to play with while pregnant.
My doc insisted that both my husband and i get one right away (at just shy of 5 weeks pregnant). I did some research, and it is totally safe. I had a sore arm but no other impact. I work with kids, so it felt especially necessary for me. I'm glad I got it.
I had my first appointment yesterday, and my dr STRONGLY urged me to get it. I live in Atlanta, and she said Georgia is the state with the worst flu outbreak so far this year. She said there's no harm in getting it first tri, and the sooner the better. They give pregnant women a dead virus, so there's no risk of getting sick from it.
I've never gotten the shot before, never had the flu, and can't tell you the last time I had a cold so initially I thought what's the point? But then I also figured while I can suck it up if I do get the flu, it can't be good for the baby.

I've never had the flu shot and I didn't get it for DS, so I won't be getting it now that I'm pregnant either. We do other things to try to keep us safe from the flu (eating well, drinking water, avoiding sugar, Vitamin D, washing our hands frequently, etc.)
I got the flu shot about a month ago. I definitly didn't feel right being pregnant without getting the shot. I have never gotten one before this. I went to Walgreens and made sure they knew I was pregnant so I would get the right shot.
