Im currently hospitalized on bedrest for low amniotic fluid and an elevated doppler reading. I was diagnosed with IUGR as well. She was measuring about 3 weeks behind asymetrically (head and belly in particular) and approximately 3lbs at 34 weeks. Now they expect at the latest that I will be delivered at 39 weeks iff my levels remain stable and she shows no sign of stress.
What can I expect growth wise over the next 4 weeks?
Re: IUGR moms?
Sorry to butt in! Chelsanne just out of curiosity, do you know how your baby is measuring right now? I am exactly 32 weeks today too and also being monitored for IUGR. I have a growth ultrasound tomorrow so will know more. Just curious to hear others' experiences.
To the OP, my first daughter was diagnosed with IUGR around 32-34 weeks when it was found that her abdomen was measuring several weeks behind her head. I was monitored with frequent ultrasounds and NSTs until it was determined that I needed to be induced at 38 weeks due to a failed NST and an ultrasound showing that her abdomen had fallen to the 6th percentile. She was 5 lbs 13 oz at birth with a really tiny tummy! She had some issues tolerating labor and ended up needing special care for several hours at birth but is now a happy, healthy almost 2 year old! She is still small- about 22 pounds but otherwise doing great. Good luck to you!
My second child was IUGR. He was born at 34 weeks and was 4lbs 8 ozs. I think it really varies. But if your baby is already measuring around 3lbs or so, by the time you hit 38-39 weeks I'd estimate the delivery weight to be around 5-6 lbs. Best of luck to you!
