Length of NT Scan?

How long did the ultrasound portion of your NT scan take? My appt. is scheduled to start at 11:30 on Wednesday and my husband really wants to try and get out of work a little early so he can be there for it. He may be running 10 minutes late... I don't want him to worry about getting off early if the ultrasound is fairly quick and he may miss it anyways. Thanks in advance!

  • Depends on how cooperative LO is

The tech needs to take a precise measurement and if LO isn't holding still or is in the wrong position, it can take a while.  I think we spent about 30-45 minutes (and lots of coughing, moving, shaking and pressing) before the tech finally got what he needed

  • Our u/s part was about 20 minutes, so I'm assuming our LO cooperated.  I thought our tech seemed a little rushed, so I'm hoping she got all of the right readings.  We'll find out this week.
  • Mine was also approx. 20 min. My LOs are positioned one on top of each other just like a bunk bed arrangement. It was very easy for her to get the measurements and she still spent a decent amount of time. Of course it takes longer for two, but I was still surprised. She walked us through everything showing us different views :)

Lost Lilah (Audra's twin) at 26 weeks. Cause unknown. Forever in our hearts
  • Mine lasted about 30 minutes.  LO wasn't very cooperative, but we got what we needed.
  • Mine was 17 minutes, however the office was over an hour behind. Obviously it can vary quite a bit depending on if LO is where it needs to be.

  • We were there (in the back) for about 25 - 30 minutes I think.  And the blood was just a finger prick.  It depends on if the tech. can get a good picture of the baby.  Our baby was being a little stubborn and I had to move around a few times.

Sounds like ours, minus the getting the right angle for the picture, we had to abort the mission!  We have a stubborn LO!

  • our u/s was about 15 min tops. The lady really wasn't too friendly and informative. I had to ask questions the whole time. Glad I did because she was pretty mute.
  • Mine was today, and it took 30 minutes because the baby was not cooperating. I also waited 30 minutes to be seen because the twins the woman before me was carrying were not cooperating either. I think your H will be fine 10 mins late. If you have not been to the clinic before you will need to handle insurance info and ppwk anyway.
