We have very hard water and a front loading washer. I was thinking to use a water softener add in to the CD loads but it doesn't appear thats an option for front loading washers.
I have a FL with borderline hard water. I put Calgon water softener in the fabric softener drawer.

We started using the Rockin Green Hard Rock and it's made a huge difference. We do a cold pre wash with no detergent then use a tablespoon of the Hard Rock with our wash cycle (add extra water if it's an option on your machine and an extra rinse) and our diapers are sooo much better than when we were using the Classic Rock.

With hard well water and an HE top-loader (4 dispensers for detergent, bleach, etc.), I put liquid Calgon in both the detergent and the fabric softener dispersers. This way both wash and rinse cycles get softener.

Great! I have a spot for fabric softener and bleach but I didn't know if I could use the water softener in one of those. Good to know I can, thanks!
