Making our home safe for us!

So I bought my house last year, and I guess our neighborhood isnt the best of the best. Its a brand new neighborhood, but with theifs! A couple of months ago, I got my tailgate stolen off my truck. Then this past week I got 2 of my jackets and my backpack for college stolen out of our car.... So Ive been having a horrible time sleeping now, thinking were going to get robbed or broken into! So this weekend hubby made me feel better, he went out and bought a bright bright light for the back door as well as a motion sensor light for the front. He cleared out the garage so we can fit both vehicles in the garage. We are looking into security systems before the baby comes, and I feel a lot safer knowing he did all that! I slept ok last night! :)

  • We have a Brinks system and it gives me a lot of peace of mind when my H is away with the Army.  Installation was free and I think we pay about $30 a month for it.

  • I know how you feel. Our neighborhood itself is decent, but it's about 2 miles away from a neighborhood that is NOT (major gang activity). We've had robberies out of cars that are parked on the street outside our complex, and over the weekend, about 40 cars had their tires slashed.

We have a security system and it makes me feel soooo much better. It was definitely not cheap to install and it's about $40 a month for service, but the peace of mind is worth it...especially now with a baby coming.

  • In the meantime, you can get these little "lock things" from the windows at Home Depot that can prevent someone from dislodging a window open. And when you get the system, get the sensors for the windows as well. Also you can get a mobile alarm w/ the system. It looks and functions like those alert necklaces for older people. You can set off the larm, if you have to, w/o having to walk all the way to the key pad or get a phone to call 911. Hth
