DD takes hers off too. I haven't found any that she can't get off. At her daycare they use tall athletic socks. All the way up the arms with jacket over them. It looks kind of funny, but all the kids have the same ones. I thought it was a pretty good idea.

Is the main problem with them taking them off and losing them? if so you can sew a ribbon to each mitten by the wrist and then thread it through their coat arms (so the ribbon goes behind their backs) so if they take them off thier hands the mittens are still with them.
