I know the facts, but can someone please reassure me?

Yesterday I started having a tiny bit of spotting. Like, a nickel sized brown spot after all day. Barely any at all. I laid down and relaxed as much as I could. When I called the ER, they told me brown is okay and not to worry. She didn't tell me to come in or anything.

Should I have gone in? I'm freaking out now. I know that brown spotting is really common and lots of people have it and go on to have healthy pregnancies, but I am so so scared now. Can anyone reassure me a little?

I think as long as it isn't red it is okay.

I am sorry that you are stressing!  I think you should be just fine.  It's the bright red blood that is an issue.  And especially if the ER said you were alright.  They would have told you to come in if there was any cause for concern.  Try to get some rest!

Thanks! I know I am being unreasonable, I just worry over things. 

I think that every woman on this board is worrying about everything right now.  I would have been concerned if it was me too. Think it's just easier from the other side to say you're ok don't worry.

I have read tons of stories on here about spotting brown and continuing on to have beautful babies.  I sincerely hope all is well.  If you start spotting red, I would call your doc tomorrow and ask him or her to do an early u/s.  Unfortunately, the ER isn't a very helpful place to go when you are so early in your pregnancy.  Most often you end up waiting for hours on end and, god forbid there was something wrong, there is absolutely nothing they can do.

One of my best friends just had a baby this past August so I went thought the whole pregnancy with her. She had brown spotting several times, especially in the beginning. Everything turned out fine and she now has a beautiful baby boy!

Just think about all the implanting and imbedding that is going on now. The placenta is forming and it has to get all snug, comfy and attached in there. If that can't cause spotting I don't know what can.

If it continues just give your doc a call.

I think we are all on the edge right now with nerves and worries.

brown is ok, sometimes even bright red is ok, but anything more than brown I would call your on call OB and maybe head in.  The thing is though, we are so early in the pg's what would the ER really do?  I hope everythings ok, I know how scary it can be!!
