I just discovered that mint can dry up one's milk supply! D'oh! You know what I've been doing? Have a cup of mint tea daily to destress! Oy. Then, my milk supply would dip so I'd add a bag of Mama's Milk Tea (with Fenugreek and other galactalogues) to help it. Ugh. How dumb am I? I don't like the taste of Mama's Milk Tea so I was using the Mint to cover it, a bit.
Anyway...just thought I'd share. No more mint tea for me...at least not while I am still nursing. I've found that it's also flaring up GERD for me, so that's another reason to lay off. Gotta find another herbal solution that is BF-friendly and that will mask the yuckiness of Mama's Milk Tea.
Re: Mint and Lactation
I don't know if it makes a difference in the effectiveness but I add sugar to the Mother's Milk Tea now. I used to add honey, but one day I ran out & used sugar instead. for me, it made a big difference in the taste.
As for a destressing tea, what about chamomile tea? or some kind of lavender?
I never knew that!
i love your new siggy pic btw - great holiday pic
