Heavy Duty Cycle?

My washer (which is ancient and a top loader) has a heavy duty cycle option which basically just agitates much harder.  I've used it a couple times, and it seems to work really well, but I worry that it's too hard on the diapers - I haven't noticed anything bad happening to them yet, but if I keep using that cycle, will they start falling apart or something? I always use it on the max water level.

 Thanks!

Re: Heavy Duty Cycle?

  • I wondered the same thing about my heavy duty cycle until I read the washer manual which said on my washer it simply means a longer cycle, with a short soak at the beginning.  The agitation and spin are no different than on the regular cycle.  If you're sure on your machine it means harder agitiation then I would think the wear and tear on your diapers could be greater.

  • I've always used it in hopes that it would get them cleaned better, I just thought it went longer. I might have to look into that.

  • I use the heavy cycle, but ours is just longer. I do think it gets my diapers cleaner, so I will take the extra wear on my diapers.

I guess if you're concerned, you could switch to a lighter cycle and see if your diapers still seem as clean. If not, go back to the heavy duty cycle.
