Question about small amount of meds left over in vials?

I forgot to ask the nurse this Wed. when I was at RE and I don't go back until the 22nd (to start meds for my last IUI!!--if this doesn't work, RE says onto IVF...AAGGHH...I'm scared and hopeful at the same time).

Anyway, I have a little bit of Gonal-F left in the pen and a little Lupron from the last cycle.  How do I get rid of it?  Do I just throw it out?  Do I put it in a pen cap/needle and push it down the drain in the sink? What do you guys think?

Also, the unused Gonal F needle tips (that are still sealed), what do I do with those?  Put them in the sharps container too?

The Gonal-F pen with the leftover meds can go in your sharps container.  For the lupron, I was told you should put it in an empty detergent bottle before throwing it away.  You do not want to flush or put these medicines down the drain that is how it ends up in lakes, ponds and drinking water. 

With the remaining sealed needles, you can see if your RE can use them.  If you need to dispose of them, then they should probably go in the sharps container, too.

I actually called my local department of natural resources, my pharmacy and my RE to determine how to dispose of the drugs and to see if they could use the extra needles.  I have a LOT of extra needles.
