Two Under 2

ds #1 falling behind while prego with #2

Im having a hard time sticking to a day and night schedule with ds bc I'm really tired and sore by end of day and when I wake up. Also getting ds on reg foods has been a huge challenge, also switching to sippy cup from bottle. its all been really hard while pregnant with ds #2. I know when ds #2 arrives next month I will gradually get more physical energy to get them on schedules but at moment I feel very powerless and like a failure bc I physically cant get everything done with ds and take care of me on a daily basis.Anyone else experience this while pregnant with #2?

  • I can understand why it is so difficult for you. I'm not nearly as far along as you are, but I often feel too tired to keep up with DS1. Thankfully DH is able to help a lot.

  • Yup I would actually cry because I felt like I was a terrible mom to DD#1.  I was put on bedrest a month before having DD#2 so that made things worse.  Just do the best you can and get help where ever you can get it.  If you LO takes an extra month or two to switch to a sippy, no one will be able to tell when he goes to preschool :).  My DD#1 was very delayed in walking and crawling due to hypotonia (walked at 19 mo with ankle braces) and unless you look closely at her shoes you would never know she was delayed.
  • I'm in the same boat right now.  As I was putting DD down for the night tonight I told her how sorry I am for being such a terrible mother these days.  I'm totally exhausted all day long.  I have such a hard time just doing the simple things.  (I have pelvic issues that can sometimes make it difficult to walk.)

Anyway, just know you're not alone.  Even in my exasperation with myself these days I know that things will get better physically when baby gets here and we settle into a better routine.  :)

  • Don't worry your LO will never remember!  I was the same way and also on bedrest, I felt terrible that DD and I couldnt spend fun time outside last summer :(  I figured I'll just make up for it next year!  You'll get back in gear once you are no longer pregnant and get into a routine with the kids after a few months!
