when i'm pg, i crave sweets. no ifs, ands, or buts about it. i've been eating the jello sugar-free pudding cups but they don't seem to hit the spot. out of curiosity the other day i looked at a bag of hershey's kisses and mini reese's pb cups to see how bad they are....and the results were astonishing! i can have 9 hershey's kisses or 5 mini reese's pb cups for <30g carbs!!! for me, that's a before bedtime snack! i talked to my dietician about this and she said it's totally fine (i figured it couldn't be b/c it seemed like so much!). i just thought i'd pass it along to the other sugar hungry mamas out there.
Re: GD moms-my new super sweet treat!!!
me too! that's why i was so surprised. there's still a bunch of fat and calories but i figure i'm eating so well otherwise that those things don't bother me that much every once and awhile.
THANK YOUTHANK YOU THANK YOU THANK YOU
i was just sitting here craving something sweet and that just might do it!
not to be a debbie downer, but be careful-just because it's the same amount of carbs as a piece of bread doesn't mean your body will respond the same way to it...the candy will be pure sugar carbs, whereas the bread typically has fiber carbs and other "good carbs". I would experiment and check your BG to make sure you're OK!
On another note, if anyone has had a vitamuffin/brownie-they have fiber, protein and are 100calories and about 20 grams of carbs-so depending on how much you can have for a snack, these did not affect my BG as an afternoon snack! (they come in chocolate and are yummy)
