Can I use chapstick on my 3 yr old?

My ds has very dry lips realy red on the bottom lip too.  What can I use to prevent them from cracking and bleeding?   Is he too little for chapstick?

  • Shea butter or chapstick would work.

  • Aquaphor works wonders for chapped lips. My DS asks for chapstick just about every time I use it and I let him.

  • I've read as long as the child is over 2 it is fine, I guess so they dont eat too much of it.

  • We use it often for our 2.5 year old.

  • I will use whatever lip balm I have in my purse on DS without hesitation, but if you can find Boudreaux's Baby Kisses, get some. It's so nice and soft and only about $3.

I was babysitting my friends 5 month old the other day who has a horrible chapped rash from teething on her face. It's all around her mouth. I couldn't think of what to put on it that she wouldn't get in her mouth. Than I thought what about Lanolin cream for breastfeeding? Worked out great & she started feeling better.  So if you are worried try some of that.
