in your opinion, which brands have worked best for you? i have not started using any yet and want to get a really good one but i was wondering if i could get your opinion on which brand and if creme or oil is better. thank you
stretch marks are genetic, you can't prevent them.

I can't wait for the "im getting a divorce" post in 5 years or so because your husbands were fed up with your disgusting chair asses from playing on the knot all day and getting fired 4-5 times for not doing any work. you guys are all winners!! ~ Laur929
I already have a ridiculous amount of them. I gained and lost a ton of weight in high school and was left looking like a zebra. As PP said if they're gonna happen, they will happen nothing will really change that.

You can slather lotion all over your belly if you want to but it won't prevent stretch marks. You will get them or not but no amount of cream or lotion will stop genetics. They are nice for an itchy, dry belly though- I prefer Burts Bees Mama Bee Belly Butter.
I still look like I got attacked by a rabid tiger, though.

I used Palmer's cocoa butter my whole pregnancy and for a year after. The only stretch mark I got was on my right hip (and the only one still there) while I was pregnant. After I delivered and my belly went back, the stretch marks were every where and so itchy! So needless to say I made it through pregnancy with 1 tiny one, but after delivery I got a ton. Like I said, the only one that is still visible is on my right hip. Sorry, I don't believe they are genetic, my mom has tons of them! Even my midwife made a comment how I was very lucky. I hope this time is the same way!
Like others said though, you really can't prevent them. if you are going to get them, you will get them.
I picked up some Burt's Bees stuff. I know it won't prevent them, but BF doesn't. Its a great excuse for him to rub yummy smelling stuff on my belly, and he thinks he's helping. It usually comes with a shoulder/back massage too, to prevent stretch marks there

Ditto this, from a fellow tiger attack victim. Just when I thought I'd gotten the worst of my tummy stretch marks, they started appearing ABOVE my belly button. Wha?!?! Lotions and whatnot work for the itchiness of the stretching skin, but not to prevent stretch marks.

Genetic doesn't mean they come directly from your mother. They can come from anyone in your family tree. My mom and sister don't have any but I have a ton and we're all slim. Genetic just means your body is already programmed to get them.

I believe this...but slathered cocoa butter all over during my last pregnancy anyway! Luckily I didn't get a single stetch mark. I'm sure it had little to do with the cocoa butter, but it made me feel like I was being pro-active and doing something. I'm sure I'll do the same this time, too!

last pregnancy I bought some really expensive stuff at around 5w before I learned these are not preventable.
I used it anyway religiously *just in case*.
at 30w I broke out in a TON of stretch marks.

I have been using Kiehl's creme de corps. EIther way, it keeps my skin moisturized and feeling better.
