TTC after 35

Newbie Online

Hi everyone,

This is my first post on here. I live in Portland, Oregon and my husband and I are trying for our first child together (he has 2 sons from a previous marriage). After several months of irregular cycles, I completed my first cycle of Clomid last week. I got a +OPK 2 days ago and we've been BDing for the last 4 days, so the 2 week wait now begins. I'm not feeling very confident though... I must admit. I'm worried the BDing every day may have worked against us and I didn't see any EWCM at all. :(

Has anyone, or does anyone know of someone who's gotten pregnant with daily BD?

Re: Newbie Online

  • Absolutely yes. There are people who get pg with every day sex. If your husband has issues with his sperm, then it may be recommended to BD every other day. But if his sperm doesn't have any issues then I would say that every day is just fine. Good luck!

  • You should be fine.  Sperm can live in a woman's reproductive system for 4 to 5 days (pending no issues with hostile cm).

Are you being monitored on clomid?  I went through a few cycles of clomid not being monitored, only using OPK's, until I found these boards.  Doctors only recommend taking clomid for so many cycles in a lifetime, so now I feel like I wasted a few trys.

  • Hey there, I grew up in PDX (Alameda specifically), and only moved away 9 years ago.  I live in Seattle now.  Last month was my first on Clomid and I had no cm either, but used preseed to combat that.  We also did our first IUI and I am closing in on the home stretch of the 2ww, but my optimisim is certainly gaurded.  I would think that if your husband has had a SA and his numbers were good with high volume and total output tha it would only help you.  Even with normal numbers you should be increasing your chances.  I'm not on here all day, but I do check in everyday.  So nice to see someone sort of local!

Are you a Duck or a Beav tomorrow?  Good Luck to you either way, (hopefully you will not linger on this board anywhere near as long as me) but...

    GO DUCKS!

  • Hi Mishele,

Yes, I'm seeing a fertility specialist (RE?) and she's been monitoring me via ultrasound. I go in next week for the progesterone blood test. Hopefully my levels are normal.

I had heard about Clomid useage and how it's best to not use it for more than 6 cycles (I think is what I read). How many cycles have you tried it?

  • Hi Sarah -  What neighborhood do you live in? I lived in Seattle until 6 years ago! I lived all over the city, but had my last condo in Fremont. I miss it. My husband was living in Eugene when we met, and since I didn't have anything tying me down, I relocated to Oregon. It's been an adjustment, but I really love Portland.

As for the Civil War - I'm afraid I don't have strong feelings either way, seeing as how I didn't attend either university. But my husband tends to root for the underdog.... sooo... Beavers it is. ;) But good luck! Not that I think the Ducks need it. :)

And good luck in your 2ww! What's your ETA on AF? I'm 2 dpo (according to my BBT), so I have a ways to go yet...

    Cheers,
    kaycia

  • I live in Ravenna.  My husband has lived in Seattle his whole life and has strong ties here.  I miss PDX, it's a great city and a great place to raise a family, and honestly it's grown into an even better place since I left with the development of The Pearl Dist. alone, (not sure what that says about me, lol).

Ducks took care of business, so we are going to the National Championship Game, (wouldn't miss it for the world).   I'm an alum.

I am 13 dpo/dpiui and got a BFN today.  I have a 15 day leutal phase so I have a few days, but I'm prepared to start up the clomid on day 3 again.  Good luck to you during your 2ww.  I hope you are one of the lucky ones and get to move on over to Preg after 35 sooner rather than later!

    G'night,

    Sarah
