Do you swaddle during naps or only at night? We swaddle at night at DS has no problem getting to sleep on him own, but nap time is frustrating. He will fall asleep and then I feel like he wakes himself up with his arms flying everywhere. I don't want to confuse him though by swaddling during nap time too.... what do you do??
Re: Swaddle during naps?
We swaddled DS and we only did so at night.
With DD we do not swaddle, breaking the swaddle habit sucked with DS. Not swaddling has been soooooo nice.
I don't swaddle during naps, he will flail and wake himself up, but I'm using that to learn when he'll be able to sleep without the swaddle at night.

We swaddle as needed, if she's super cranky before naptime, we swaddle to help her calm down-- if she falls asleep unswaddled she usually takes a shorter nap, but if it's a midmorning nap it's all good!
As far as breaking the swaddle habit goes, I've heard you can start breaking them slowly by freeing one arm (so they can start to self soothe by sucking their fingers, etc) and then freeing the other arm later on...
I'm going to have to remember this one. I only like to swaddle at night, just so we can get more sleep. I'm worried it will become too much of a habit... but I'm going to give it a few more weeks before i worry too much.
