bedtime/sleeping arrangments

so I feel like we are all over the place with E's sleeping/bedtime.

How do you get your baby to go to sleep at night? He's so wide awake and I just can't figure out the best way to get him to go to sleep.

Also what is/was your bedtime routine at this age? We really don't have one at all and I am struggling with getting one going. 

And, if your baby slept in your room with you when and how did you transition
