First overnight diapering= FAIL

I put her to bed around 11pm, had her diaper, the MF insert, and a doubler in. Her butt was huge. She woke up around 4 to nurse, and she was soaked all the way through her swaddle, her PJ's, and through to her mattress. I changed her diaper, we nursed and went back to bed. Woke up 4 hours later and she was soaked again, but not seeping through everything as bad.

What did I do wrong, and what can I do better? Any suggestions? What are some good overnight diaper solutions?

Does she sleep on her side? Where is she wet? Around the entire diaper or just the sides?

Oh no...I am sorry.  I am sure it will get better and you will figure it out.  I know all babies are different.  I used a BG organics OS AIO last night with a hemp liner and he was so dry but I have to say I don't think he is as heavy of a wetter as he used to be.  People warned I may have leakage but I didn't so I guess its all trial and error with each and every baby.  Better luck tonight!

She sleeps on her back. All the wetness was up her back. I even folded both inserts over at the back where the diaper ends to catch anything, and she still soaked through.

I might look into some hemp liners for nighttime.

I suggest getting some hemp. We use one AFFF hemp insert and a Knickernappies stay-dry hemp doubler in a BG pocket. Sometime I also throw a Hemp Babies doubler in there too. I hate MF inserts. They don't hold up for us the way hemp does. Night diapering is very trial and error. You'll find something that works! Stick with it mama!

Also with pockets, you have to make sure all the fleece is tucked in properly.  We have problems with our BG when they are well stuffed and then not put on quite right because they can be hard to get on with all the inserts.

If the inserts were sopping wet, this is probably not the problem, but if the underneath insert wasn't too wet, it might be that the pee leaked out the back before it had a chance to be absorbed.

You might also just try a different outer diaper style...we leaked some in our BG at first...but now that we've had to up the prefold inserts to keep her dry using the smartipants, the BG are actually working the best now again. go figure.

Kawaii overnights are the only thing working for us. I use the 2 mf inserts it comes with plus a hemp insert.

DS has leaked through everything else I tried.
