Pregnant after 35

should I lie to my MD?

*please try to restrain flames if you feel like you must throw them, thanks*

I am 34 and a half. This is our fifth cycle TTC. We have no known medical issues. My LP's have a been a bit short, this last cycle it was "normal" length (12 days) but I spotted the entire time.

So I am off the doctor. I want to know if you think I should lie? Should I say we have been trying 6 mos? A year?

If you are thinking I am impatient, well I have a reason. My husband is in the military and within the next year we will be moving to Europe. And we will be nowhere near a military clinic/hospital. So I fear if we have issues, getting tx may be more of a challenge. I want to know early on if there is an issue we have to deal with.

Just curious of your experience. Did your doc tell you "try for a year and come back? If my Progesterone is low, or a similar simple fix, I'd prefer to know sooner than later.

thanks

  • I think I would tell him exactly the reasons you stated here. Are you taking any supplements to help you with conceiving?
  • Thanks.

Yes, I take EPO to help with CM, as well as Green Tea until ovulation. I also take a PNV with DHA.

  • Once you're 35 they only expect you to try for six months before seeking help so you're almost there anyway.  I would just be honest and explain how you will be moving, etc.  By the time you have testing done it will be six cycles of trying.

Kelly, Mom to Christopher Shannon 9.27.06, Catherine Quinn 2.24.09, Trey Barton lost on 12.28.09, Therese Barton lost on 6.10.10, Joseph Sullivan 7.23.11, and our latest, Victoria Maren 11.15.12

Secondary infertility success with IVF, then two losses, one at 14 weeks and one at 10 weeks, then success with IUI and then just pure, crazy luck.  Expecting our fifth in May as the result of a FET.

  • It depends on your doctor but at our 'advanced age' :) and your circumstances, they will probably get you started on testing right away. When I got PG at 35 my doctor considered me high risk right away and treated me accordingly even thought there was no reason to think I would have issues. I don't mind tho, it means close monitoring and lots of ultrasounds!
