What to do when your TTC & the Doctor tells you that your overweight and you should consider to drop some pounds before considering to TTC...?
What's the quickest & safest way to lose weight?
edit on 12/2/10.....
Thanks EVERYONE for the helpful tips....
I am active and I watch what I eat but I am overweight for my height. What other exercise tips should I do? I do light weights & cardio. I eat light all the time. I have to admit noodles are my weakness
but I cut back to twice a month.
What else can I try?
Re: What to do when your TTC....
I agree with pp and would add that my favorite eating maintenance plan is Weight Watchers.
This plan works every time for me because it allows you to eat pretty much what you want as long as you count the points (i.e. calories/fat/fiber content). If you don't know the plan, it is pretty inexpensive. I never attend meetings because I find them to be hokey and once I learned the plan I have followed it for life. Better yet, I found that the first time I used it, so many other people have done WW that I was able to get the plan materials from a friend. I have only joined as a WW when I had HAP insurance and could join for $25.
Good luck! I will be TTC next year and want to drop some pounds. I developed gestational hypertension which I could probably avoid by losing some more weight.
Do you belong to a gym? I would try changing up your cardio. For example, if you are a runner, maybe try some cycling classes or other aerobics classes. I have always been a person that LOVES to do Step Aerobics. That is still my favorite, but since I turned 30
it has been hard for me to lose weight. I started to take cycling classes and bikram yoga and WOW, total 180 on the weight loss. I think sometimes we have to shock our bodies, especially as we get older.
I recently read something this past weekend that I am doing that said there was a study that showed participants who drank 2 cups of water before each major meal of the day dropped a significant amount of weight in a short period of time (think it was some # like 15 lbs. in a month). It was an article in USA weekend.
Also, upgrading your cardio to "interval training" helps burn more calories in a shorter amount of workout time and is supposed to help your body continue to burn calories after the fact. I am sure you can look up exercises that fit you online.
I am using these Green Tea Mega Burn pills (take 2 a day and the package has a 15 day supply...like $6 bucks at the store and pretty much available everywhere). My appetite has gone down significantly. I take along with regular vitamins. Active ingredient is chromium and a green tea proprietary blend.
HTH.
Hi Dstceo41
WOW! That's amazing... Congrats to the weight loss!

That's really inspiring!! I'm 30 now and it does take me alittle longer to feel the burn than before. So I can understand that getting older does make it harder to drop pounds.
I will try that out though, cycling and changing up the level of routine.
WW sounds like a good plan to go on, but my Insurance doesn't give me any discount for WW. My mom loves WW too.
I will have to change my diet & try a new workout since I don't have a gym membership anymore bc it was getting to expensive. But my total weight loss GOAL is 25-35lbs at least.
Well GOOD LUCK to you TOO! You and I will be TTC next year...

Hi HTH,
Well I heard that drinking 2 liter of H2O a day will help with lossing weight, but I drink water ALL THE TIME! So I don't know. H2O is my favorite drink, I drink tea or 1 cup of coffee every other day at work, I rarely drink sweet drinks like soda pop. If I do I only take a few sips and give it to My Hubby who LOVES soda pop.
But thanks for the tip and the upgrading cardio, I may have to work out before and after or when double time it when I get home from work. I think what I need is a personal trainer or a workout partner.. hehe
