Lately we've been getting a lot of our neighbors' mail. We've gotten incorrect mail for 3 address on our street, I'd say we probably average 3 pieces of incorrect mail a week. Sometimes all the mail in our mailbox is incorrect. Our neighbor has brought over our mail on multiple occasions (only one neighbor).
Last night, UPS delivered something to our house by mistake. Of course, he just dropped the item, rang the doorbell, and left so we couldn't tell him. DH took it next door to the correct address.
We've got a lot of important mail coming soon: online orders, my first paycheck, Christmas gifts, and W2s aren't too far behind. I hope my neighbors are as honest and prompt about returning things as we are.
Do other people have this many issues? I understand it's their busy season so there are bound to be more mistakes, but it feels a little excessive.
Re: This is really starting to concern me
We get neighbors' mail maybe twice a year. Once, a neighbor got a package for us.
I'd say that what you're experiencing isn't normal and that it might warrant a phone call to your local PO.
butting in from Bump sabbatical...
My ILs live in Lafayette and it's been a running joke all the years I've known them how bad the PO is there and how many times they've had something screwed up. Now, I have always felt like my ILs are overly particular about things, but sounds like there might be something to this. Having that many problems isn't normal. Good thing you have the spreadsheet to track your packages, seriously!
The one last night was UPS too!
I know someone who works for the post office. I might ask him about it. We still get some mail for the previous owners too, but it's all credit card offers.

The street next to ours looks identical and has the same house numbers. So let's see our address was 123 Smith Way, the house in the same spot on the street next door is 123 Jones Way.
We used to get their mail constantly, and they got ours. We became concerned too - what were we missing?!
Even though it would have been easy enough to do, I DID NOT hand deliver the mail to the right place. The reason is because I wanted them to realize what was going on.
Instead, I put a note on each piece of mail that it was the wrong address, and put it back in the mail box. After doing that for a few months, it was all fixed and it doesn't happen now.
