Have you ordered a cake from Walmart or a grocery store?

And it was something other than a basic sheet cake?

I want to get a round or square but high(thick) cake for my LO's birthday and the bakeries around here are limited, so I was wondering if my Weis Market or Walmart might be able to do it.

Any experiences with these places/cakes.  Pics?

    If your grocery store has a bakery they should be able to do it. My Raley's makes 8 inch round cakes in single or double layers - I just got a single layer for C to play with for some 1 year pics.

    I have had good luck with Sams Club cakes so I am sure Walmart would be great too. I even dropped it on the way out the door and they replaced it free, right on the spot! LOL

    Publix cakes are amazing, if you have one there.  (I think they're mainly in Florida.)

    I second Publix. I haven't personally ordered one from them, but my sister has ordered a few different cakes and they were always great!

    Wal-mart does tiered wedding cakes and can even use fondant.  They have some specialty themed kids cakes that are two layer rounds with fondant.  I had them make several rounds for me to stack into a Dr. Seuss hat for DS's 2nd birthday.

    We have had good luck with Costco, but we also have a local mom and pop grocery store that makes cakes that are OUT OF THIS WORLD!!!!!!!!!!! Check around for some of those!

    Same here! My bridal shower cake was from Publix and it was great!
