mastitis???

Of course I will call my doctor about this in the morning but I wanted your expert opinions in the meantime. Does this sound like mastitis?

sore area on breast

red area on breast (not the same spot as the sore area)

muscle aches, chills, general malaise

no fever

I've been weaning from pumping but am still nursing as often as I can. Haven't had too many clogged ducts but have definitely been overly full. Am wondering if I've cut back on pumping too quickly.

And I just got over yet another thrush episode last week. sheesh.

I have had it twice and each time was a little different but I would say it sounds like it! One relieft i found before my meds kicked in was hot shower!

Both times I had mastitis, I had a really high fever.  Might just be a plugged duct.  Kellysmom has a good chart comparing mastitis and plugged duct symptoms and the only major difference was fever.

I just sent you an email-- but I had what you mentioned and a fever.  The fever kicked in the morning after I had the initial symptoms that you're describing.

i felt just like that and knew it was mastitis.... i called the doc and he called in an Rx right away - right when DH got home with the Rx the fever started --- it can hit fast and hard - i'd call the doc tonight if you have a 24 hour pharmacy nearby... you'll want to start meds ASAP.

that sucks. Hope you feel better soon!

I had all those symptoms, but i had a fever as well, over 103.0.
