Developmental Physician

Does anyone have an recs, preferably at Riley for a Developmental Specialist?  Ryan has low oral and physical muscle tone and now, they are saying it could be due, in part, to the awful labor and delivery I had...I'm just trying to get my ducks in a row.  They are suggesting we go see a developmental specialist, so I thought I would ask if anyone has had to work with one before.

  • I have a girlfriend who's a social worker at Riley if you want me to ask her.  Let me know.

That would be GREAT.  I have no idea where to turn at this point, but from what the Physical Therapist said, this may be a good direction to go to determine whether his problems are physical or neurological

  • We see Dr. Maria Stanley at Riley. We've been seeing her since James was 12 months. She's very nice and takes her time with you. (so we like to get early appointments!) She has an office at Clarian North in Carmel too. (Much easier than going to Riley downtown!)

  • And also if they refer you to a neurogenetics doctor at Riley - we saw Dr. Welsh.   (They sent us because of Ks low muscle tone after some blood results came back off.)
  • I don't have experience from a patient/family perspective, but I was really impressed with Dr. Carolyn Lytle when I rotated through the department as a medical student. She came across as very kind and down-to-earth, and extremely accessible.

  • We have seen Dr. Julie Keck.  She's from Riley but mostly practices in the Clarian North Medical Center at the Developmental Pediatrics office.  I really like her.
  • I don't know if he is considered a developmental pedi, but I really really love Dr. Escobar.

He's really conservative, and that's why I love him.  He really does not sweat the small stuff, but I feel that he knows when to worry and when not to worry.  He seems really smart.
