Babies: 0 - 3 Months

so tired of people comments..

I am sorry this is a VENT.

I am SOO tired of people telling me we have the "perfect" family because we had a boy first and then a girl.  And because we have 1 of each.  What do people who have 2 girls, or 2 boys, or 1 child not have the "perfect" family?

What if I wanted 2 boys, or wanted 2 girls.  Or what if I wanted a 3rd child and did not think my family was finished.  come on people, perfect in your eyes, may not be perfect in someone elses!!!

vent over!

Re: so tired of people comments..

  • I agree with what you're saying... These people probably just mean that you never have to keep "trying to have a girl" or "trying to have a boy" because now you have both. A lot of people want to have at least one of each sex, so I can see why people would make those comments... but they are still being thoughtless :P

  • I'm glad you posted this.  We have been getting the same comments since we found out we were having a boy (our girl came first, but we have one of each).  I never really understood why it bothered me so much.  I think what you said is true...if we had two girls, would that make our family not as "perfect"?  Plus, I think I just really hate the term perfect.  I don't really think any one or thing is perfect, and I'm really not trying to be, either.  Our family is awesome, but not because of the sexes of our children.

  • I just wanted to add that I remember my mom saying how hurt she was when people would make comments like this to her (I was born first, then my brother)... people couldn't understand why my parents would want to have more children because they already had the "perfect" family -- but in their eyes it wasn't complete!

They went on to have 6 children ;) 4 girls, 2 boys

  • I agree!  I think it is so odd that people make this comment, but I also get it all the time.  I even got it at the grocery store yesterday.  We originally wanted three children, but might keep it at two now (99% sure), but it has nothing to do with the fact that DD was a girl and not a boy!

  • And I am tired of the people insinuating that I don't have the perfect family by asking, "So, you gonna try for a girl?" or "So maybe 3rd time will be a charm?"  I want to throat punch them all.

This, except they ask when we're going to try for a boy, not even if. And so many people act like DH should be disappointed with having all daughters. (We have two together, and I have a step-daughter.) Soooo annoying.

  • At first I was convinced I wanted a boy then a girl, but after finding out we were having a girl not a boy that all changed. I am so in love with my little girl now, that I don't care whether we have a boy or girl next. I still want 2 children but if we have another girl I will be perfectly happy!!!
  • I got this ALL the time.  We have three girls.  We love them and wanted them all.  We're happy.  We're not going to keep having kids to try for a boy.  This is one of my biggest pet peeves...as though girls aren't enough?  Grrrr.

  • I agree, if I hear that we have a rich man's family one more time I'm gonna scream.  I would have been happy with any combination of sexes.
