Hi Everyone! Just wanted to join this board. I am 6 weeks pregnant and will be moving to Alamogordo in February. My Fiance is in the Air Force out there. We are super excited! But it is going to be a big change for me (I am moving from Seattle, Washington).
I thought it would be fun to connect with other women in the same state!
Anyone know of any good doctors/hospitals? We aren't married yet, so I am on the hunt for a great doctor!
Any help would be greatly appreciated,
Rachel
Re: Moving to New Mexico
First of all - welcome! And I have to say this is pretty ironic. We are moving to Seattle in about 2 years. I'd love to pick your brain about that town and surroundings once you get settled!
Anyways, my doctor is Doctor Carmona with Women's Specialists. She delivered both of my kids and I would highly recommend her. Her office number is (505) 843-6168. I'm not sure what insurances she takes. I have Presbyterian insurance and she takes that. Hope this helps!
Thank you for the information! I will definately call and find out.
Sure! I would be more than happy to answer anything. You can always email me: rachel.carlson28@yahoo.com.
I think she needs someone in Alamogordo.
Woops - sorry about that. I read the "Al" part and must have had a brain melt down.
I started to read it as Albuquerque also Unfortunately I don't know anything about Alamogordo docs.
Yes, I have been to visit. I came back at the beginning on November. It's a big change from what I am used to. But I like change and without it, life gets pretty boring!
I will definatley be doing some much needed research about doctors in my area! Thanks for all your help.
I've been having some horrible morning sickness - that lasts ALL day long. Today has not been a good day, I have been having mild cramping. Now the worry sets in. Oh my!
Hopefully the morning sickness passes before your move!
I was worried my entire first trimester, I felt like it was too good to be true.
That was me! Good news, it got so much better for me at 12 weeks and was almost completely gone by 14 and lately I have had no problems! There is light at the end of the tunnel. I was also worried All.The.Time, I felt like I couldn't even really enjoy my first tri since I was alway so terrified. Something that did help me was to remember, "Today I am pregnant, I don't know what tomorrow will bring, but I love my baby today" - from amazing PPC on May2011
Good luck!

I can't offer an advice on doctors, but I just wanted to say that my brother was stationed in Alamogordo and really like it. It's fascinatingly different than where I'm from (Pittsburgh) and I loved that it was 65 degrees on Thanksgiving, but snowing in the mountains, a half hour drive away.
My H is AF as well - we're going to Kirtland AFB in Albuquerque in a few days. Good luck with your move and your LO!
Hi there!
My family and I just moved here in October and love it. We live on the base and are really enjoying it. I am 27 weeks pregnant with my first baby. I have a midwife who's name is Terry Smith. She is located at the Center for Women's Health. The phone number is 575-434-2229. She is wonderful and has delieverd some of my friend's babies. They are attached to the hospital in Alamo which I like so in case something goes wrong, there is emergency personel available.
I hope your move goes well. Moving out to bascially the middle of nowhere can be hard at first, but there is lot here for families to do. The base offers lots of activiites. If you have any questions or just need someone to talk to, feel free contact me. My family is from this area and I went to college in Las Cruces, so I got pretty lucky. But I still know how hard it can be to move away from your hometown. Good luck with the move and your pregnancy.
