Regular 27-day cycles but no ovulation?

Does anyone know the medical reason why a person could have a regular 27 day cycle and NOT be ovulating?  I know that if you go for long enough with no period you have spotting, which is due more to the lining becoming so thick that it has to shed off a tiny bit.... but in that case I would assume that when that occurs it could be on any random cycle day.  Does anybody know?

  • Just an addendum: I've had a 27-day cycle very predictably for the past 6 months or so....

  • This is me pretty much exactly.  I have had VERY predictable cycles (27-29 days) since coming off BCPs about 3 years ago.  My RE thinks it's due to my body ramping up to O then sputtering out @ the last minute & Oing very crappily if @ all.  Apparently this is common among women with IR.  I never spot either.  But, I responded well to both Clomid & Follistim (2-4 follies each cycle).  Needless to say after 6 failed IUIs, we're moving on to IVF.

  • I don't think I'm ovulating because my progesterone is super low and my temperature chart is typically cold and flat.

    What does "IR" mean?
