XP from CD board: EFF detergent and EBF stains

i use the EFF blog detergent recipe for my CDs.  i have an HE washer and followed the directions, using 1/2 tbsp for each cycle (one cold, one hot). all my diapers have terrible EBF stains on them! i tried increasing the amount of detergent to 1 tbsp and still have the same issue. i am putting the detergent straight in with the diapers, not in the laundry detergent slot (per the instructions on the EFF blog)... any advice other than sunning? its raining and i also havent gotten a clothesline up yet. i've been doing diaper laundry at night so for now sunning isnt an option.

TIA!

Re: XP from CD board: EFF detergent and EBF stains

  • I always noticed the EBF poo stains most on my natural fibers, like organic cotton.  The thing that helped me most was using fleece liners.  Then the poo is on the fleece which it seems to wash out of easier in my experience.  Also then it's nice for them to have that stay dry layer if the diaper doesn't already.

Otherwise, sunning works great when you have the option...you can even use a sunny window if you have one.

    I don't think you're doing anything wrong though...EBF poo stains definitely happen....frequently! :-)

  • thanks! i have some fleece liners, i'll try that.

once i sun them they should come out though, right? even though i've already put them in the dryer?

Yep! Also I bought tan fleece to make the liners that we use which further aids in disguising any stains.
