Is this weird? (name question)

hi, new here. i'm having a little boy due jan 24 and i had planned on naming him Oliver Clyde. ( clyde was my grandfathers name) well, my name is bonnie. A friend of my asked what i was naming my son and i told them and they replied with "oh... thats a little weird don't you thing? your name is bonnie" so now i'm questioning his name. thats the only incident so far where ive gotten a negative response so i was just wondering about opinions here. thanks!

  • Eh - if it doesn't bother you stick with your guns.  It's a family name and obviously means something to you.

In the rare instances where his middle name and your first appear side by side it will be a little kitchy at the very worst.  =)

Oliver was on our boy name list.

  • Are you going to call him Oliver Clyde all the time? if not, then that person is weird. I love the name Oliver :).

  • I think it is a nice name and as another poster said unless you are going to call him his middle name with your name I dont think it will ever be an issue....
  • I don't think its weird at all. Not to mention that our LO's generation won't even know who the heck "Bonnie & Clyde" were.
  • Not weird....then again my Aunt's name is Jill and we call her son/my cousin Jack....as in "Jack and Jill" until this post I hadn't thought a thing of it.

  • I like your name choice and I think it would only be weird if you were married to someone named Clyde or if you gave DS Clyde as a FN.  You have a reason why you picked Clyde and its not to honor Bonnie and Clyde so if you love it, don't worry about it.
I give up trying to get a ticker.  I have a DD that is 2.5 years old and is awesome.  Maybe I'll add a quote to distinguish myself.  Hmmm.  How about...

     Yup. This entirely.

  • Okay, I must be dumb becasue it took me a while to even figure out what your friend meant by that.  I think it's totally fine.

I love, love, love the name Oliver (we are using it as a mn) and I think Oliver Clyde sounds great - I am a huge fan of family names.
