Trying to Get Pregnant

trying to not think about babymaking

I have been told by people "if you stop thinking about it it will happen". I have been told this so many times already that it kinda irritates me. I have tried to focus on other stuff but I still have baby on the brain. We have been ttc since May and we are now going on month 8 of ttc. Does anyone have advice on trying to not think about ttc and getting pregnant?

Re: trying to not think about babymaking

  • Don't hang around a baby board?

Or get a hobby? Go out with friends? Go shopping?  Get a part-time job?

ETA: Not that it matters, but May-November is 6 months...not 8.

  • I have no advice for not thinking about it- but for dealing with the other people I do! Don't tell them anything anymore!  I have  co workers at work that want to know every detail and every plan we have, and one that just tells me "quit worrying about it", "you're worring too much!"  Heck no I'm not! I'm not worried about anything yet! I enjoy thinking about being preg and holding my baby(ies)...I just know I can't tell that woman anything lol

Good luck and have fun planning and thinking and daydreaming!

IUD removed June '10. CP Sept'10. Confirmed complete bicornuate uterus June '11.

  • I think it's normal to have baby-brain when you are TTC.  Just try to be sure to keep other things important in your life, as well.  Don't make it the center of your world, although it does feel like that sometimes.  Keep your other hobbies and responsibilities a priority, too.  GL to you!

  • I didn't realize it miscounted. I have two part time jobs and i am also finishing my Masters in Human Resources. I am busy but it doesn't seem to make me stop thinking about it. I am concerned also because my husband has crohn's and he was told it can make it 4 times harder to conceive so i have that on my mind as well. I feel like I want to prove that scientific reasoning like that can be disproved in some way and that we won't have to worry about having a hard time getting pregnant. It makes me get discouraged each month when we do not get pregnant.

  • Sorry I can't help you there.  Have also been hearing the same thing way too much lately and it does get old.  You can try to occupy yourself all you want but it's inevitable we all think about it... it's hard not too.
  • I don't think there is really anything that will take your mind off of it, unfortunately :( I know I think about it all the time too and we cant even TTC again until February! It cant come soon enough! It's really just a matter of making sure you arent completely consumed with it 24/7...because that's just unhealthy! Good luck! I know it's tough!

Not to start an agument but counting all of May through all of nov would be 7 months, Dec would be the 8th.  So I think she's right.

I was about to say the same thing.
