I've heard such contradicting reports on heat blankets when you are pg. I used one when I was pregnant with my son and doctor never said not too. I'm using one now too. I don't generally spend the night with it on just when I first get into bed. But I'm currently stuck in my bedroom and have the heating blanket on too stay warm. DH is putting new exterior doors on the house today.
Just wondering.
Re: Your take on Heating Blankets
2 years, 2 surgeries, 2 clomid fails, 2 IUIs, 1 loss, IVF #1 - 10/25/10 = BFP!, DS is now 3.5yrs!
TTC #2 - 6/12 surgery #3, FET #1 & 1.2 = BFN, 12/2012 FET #2 = BFP! DD is 1.5 yrs!
Surprise! 12/16/14 BFP, loss #2 12/31/14
I can't wait for the "im getting a divorce" post in 5 years or so because your husbands were fed up with your disgusting chair asses from playing on the knot all day and getting fired 4-5 times for not doing any work. you guys are all winners!! ~ Laur929
My take on it is that the concern is around heating your internal temperature too high (just like spending time in a hot tub). Basically I think you need to keep your core temp. below 102 degrees but you may want to check with your doctor just in case.
I am always freezing cold and am in LOVE with my heating blanket... but since I read that you aren't supposed to use it during pregnancy, I stashed it away in the linen closet.
Now I just put my cold feet on DH...
I just don't think it's worth the risk. I'll just deal with being cold.
The concern with electric blankets are with the electromagnetic field it creates. I guess there isn't enough evidence that it is safe for use.
If you are going to use one, I suggest a microwaveable bean bag. Moist heat is supposed to be better for you in general anyways.
I have one and will use it to warm up the bed before I get in. It is so hard to get warm in a bed in the winter (for me) without it.
Not sure I'd use it to sleep. But as long as your body doesn't get over 100 I guess it'd be okay. I think I'd treat an electric blanket like a bath. Warm up with it, but don't "soak" in it for longer than 10-20 mins.

This is basically no evidence to support this and my doctor rolled his eyes when I asked him about a heating pad.
