Visual disturbances?

Yesterday I had the weirdest visual changes. For about 30-40 min. I was seeing spots & shimmers (similar to if I had just stared into the sun). Once the spots subsided, I got a headache. I am going to call my vision dr. if it happens again, but I have a feeling this is related to my pregnancy hormonal changes. Has anyone ever experienced this before?

I'm having the same issues plus some bluriness, especially when reading; and eye dryness.  I've never had any issues with my vision, and I don't wear contacts or glasses, but I've read that many women experience this symptom...more so for contact wearers.  I've got it on the list to mention at my next appointment, but I'm not worrying yet.

Yes - it's a migraine. I hadn't had them for years, and in the last month I've had two.Just pop two Tylenol when the sparkles begin, and find a dark room to relax in. They suck, but if you catch them early, before the symptoms progress, it's not as painful.

The hormonal changes of pregnancy can bring on migraines, so don't be scared if these migraines get worse or start happening even more. A bit of caffeine will help, too (Coke was about the only thing I could stomach when I'd get my migraines).

Thanks! It's actually a relief to know that it is migraine related. I just looked it up and there is such a thing called optical migraines. I will keep the Tylenol on hand and hope it doesn't happen again.
