Ok so for the last 3-4 ams i have been charting my temps, but im finding its a lil off...when i used it for the first time this am (like u should)...I got 96.3, but after i heat up the therm a bit....and then took a temp I got 97.3!!...thats a big jump as all u BBT charting ladies know...so my questions stands...How can u be sure the 96.6 temp is correct? Im a bit confused which temp to use. Im wondering since its a fast digital therm..does it not have time to reach the highest temp?
TIA..
Renee

Re: BBT ?
I can see why your temps would be different. You already had the therm in your mouth, took your temp, took it out, warmed it up, and then took it again. You've also been awake for a longer period of time when you did it the second time. I'd go with the first temp.
However, to present both sides some women will say it depends on your therm.
What do you mean? You take your temperature first thing when you wake up (before even getting out of bed), and use that temp. I'm not sure why you would "heat up" the thermometer.

always go with your first temp for the most consistent result.
I googled just in case I was wrong and didn't see anything contrary, so, I feel safe in saying digital thermometers are accurate (basal or not) whether they start cold or warmer. Even glass thermometers with mercury or whatever in them should be accurate whether they're cold or not, you just have to make sure the liquid is all at the bottom before using it (the ones you shake down.)
And, like pp said, always use your first temp. The point is the longer you're awake, even if you haven't gotten out of bed, the more your temperature will rise. So no matter what, the first temp should be the most accurate.

Thanks Again!
