Trying to Get Pregnant

New and Confused.

Hi everyone, a big time Newbie to the bump and trying to conceive. I am currently (I estimate) 3dpo, I didn't do charting since this is my first month TTC so I have no idea when I actually did ovulate . I am starting to have some pain in my abdomen and starting to freak out a little. I'm not sure what its from but one girl at work said it could happen if I were pregnant and she didn't even know we were TTC. I think it could also be a UTI, does anyone know what affect this would have for TTC or what effect if we did conceive. Does anyone have some goof resources for when implantation would occur, when I should test and all that. I am so lost and confused. I would love some help, thanks!

Re: New and Confused.

  • Well, honestly, without temping, there is no way to know when you ovulated. Temping, reading up on more specifics of your body (fertilityfriend.com has a really good lesson series if you do not want to buy anything that you can learn from, but the book Taking Charge of Your Fertility is even better. I'd recommend the book even if you weren't TTC at the time.) Therefore, I think you should at least look through those fertility friend lessons to learn more about when implantation would occur.

I believe even if you are 3dpo, there would be no symptoms of pregnancy. It's just too early.

Since you're just TTC, did you just come of BCP or just quit using barriers? If you came of BCP, there is a lot of different advice we can give you.

If you have a UTI, you need to go see a doc. You'll need antibiotics for it, but drink lots of fluids (especially cranberry) in the mean time.

If you really want to test, home pregnancy tests are not reliable at all until 10dpo, and even then its low, I forget the exact number, but there is a link for new to trying to get pregnant that can give you and lead you to a lot of the information about them.

  • The best thing you can do for yourself right now is get a copy of the book Taking Charge of Your Fertility.  It will answer sooooo many questions.

  • Yes to everything Aggie said.

Also, read the Newbie link (it's at the top of the page when you sort by last post).  Fertilityfriend.com is another great resource, and it what's most of use to chart our cycles and symptoms.  You can click the ticker in anyone's siggy to check it out.

    Welcome, and good luck!

I love this.  I think we should adopt BTN as a new official acronym.

  • I did just come off of BCP, this is my 2nd month off of it. I bought some AZO in case I do have a UTI, and also some cranberry supplements. I never drink anything except water so I don't know why I keep getting UTI's, i guess the extra effort in TTC. I can't see a doctor until Monday of course, I am only covered by military clinic's so I can't go to a regular doctor. I was in so much pain last night I thought about going to the ER. My temperature was also high, I had a low grade fever, so if I have an infection I think its probably pretty bad. I am just hoping if we did get preggo this month that the UTI has no effect on it.

  • Just a friendly note some of the girls don't like the term preggo try KU(knocked up) instead and with a high temp in the fever range I would say it sounds more like infection to me.  But that is JMO.  GL and H2H

  • Make sure you get up and pee right away after sex. That can help prevent UTIs if you think they might be caused by extra sex.
