TTC After a Loss 6 Months+

Oral surgery, problem while TTC?

I found out yesterday that a wisdom tooth which has given me problems for years needs to come out. It's considered impacted I guess and I need to have oral surgery.  I plan on being completely knocked out for it.

Does anyone have any experience with this and is this something that has to be done on a break cycle? I had surgery a week before I found out I was pg with my daughter and I know that probably isn't ideal. Can I just schedule it for the beginning of my cycle?  I don't see the RE again until next week and being the planner that I am, I just keep thinking about when I'll get this done.

Re: Oral surgery, problem while TTC?

  • I don't know about being completely knocked out, but I had a tooth pulled while I was pregnant with DS.  I really don't see why it would be a problem, especially at the beginning of the cycle.  My OB wasn't concerned at all, but of course local anesthesia is a different animal.

GL!  That doesn't sound like fun.

  • Yeah, a cavity or regular tooth pulling is fine.  If we were just TTC on our own, I think I wouldn't even worry about the surgery just have it at the beginning of my cycle, but with being on meds I wonder if it would be different.

  • I did twilight sedation at the beginning of a cycle a few months ago.  Both the dentist and RE cleared it.  I would talk to the dentist and call your nurse.

  • I don't think you really need to worry about it, but if you want to be extra cautious just set it for the beginning of your cycle.
