Hi Everybody Today is my first day on this site and I'm glad I've found it!! After a year of TTC, we're starting IUI this month. I will be taking my first shot of Gonal-F today. We found out just last week that my hubby has sperm issues and there were no questions about starting treatment right away. There is a 1 in 4 chance of multiples, but we're not worried. In fact we feel very special and blessed to have this help. The IUI will probably happen around Dec 1 (I'm guessing and hoping).
I need someone to share little about their experience with IUI, like what do you do or not do after the procedure? Did you have twins? Are worried about having twins? Anything....
I have no idea what to expect. I have read so much about it I'm dizzy with info...
Lots of baby dust to all!!!
Re: GO IUI!!!
after anovulatory diagnosis and TTC for 1 1/2yrs with several medicated cycles and one chemical pregnancy, we have our first bundle of joy!
IT'S A GIRL!
#2 EDD 2/5/13 dx with anti-BIG E antibody, seeing a MFM
I don't take one single minute for granted.
I have had 9 IUIs, either un-medicated or Clomid.
For the medicated ones, I went in for follie check on day 12, they told me my follies were the right size and to trigger that night, and then I went in for IUI morn of day 14.
I laid on the table, it took the doc about 30 seconds to do his thing. It felt like AF cramps. They said to lay there for 15 minutes then I could go on about my regular day but no strenuous activity. I actually just went home and laid on the couch.
I am not worried about twins, it actually excites me a little. It's been so hard this time to get and stay pregnant, if I could knock out 2 in one try, I will be happy.
Good luck adn let me know if you have any questions!!

Welcome and good luck! We are also on our first IUI. I hope your stay is a short one!
After the IUI, they have you lay down in the office for about 10-20 minutes, but other than that, there are no restrictions like bedrest or anything. There are a lot of quick appointments in your future, so I hope you are prepared for that, but nothing is really painful or difficult at this phase - at least it wasn't for me...
Good luck!

I just had my first IUI today. It went quickly, minus all the waiting I did. The nurse pushed on my stomach while the doctor was the doing the IUI and that was the worst part. Oh, and I had a student in there. So, I had lots of people looking at my lady parts.
The office triggered me with 4 good follies. DH is very nervous about multiples, but I would welcome twins.
GL and I hope this is it for you!

This exactly! I would be thrilled for multiples! Both my best friend and brother have twins (both sets are unmedicated twins) and from being around them so much, its hectic, but in a wonderful, beautiful, amazing family way
I just finished my 3rd round IUI and the RE told me to resume normal activity including "sexy time" after. I didn't exercise until the next day, though.
Best of luck to you!
Thank you so much for all the feedback and support!!!
My hubby did my first injection yesterday and it wasn't as bad as I thought it would be. What's kinda of annoying is going every morning to get blood work and ultrasounds, I started that yesterday (Day 5) and will have to continue until Day 13/14 depending on when I ovulate. I'm not gonna complain, it's a small price to pay and I know people out there go through much worse!! So that's the last time I will mention that. lol
My doctor said that they will go for 3 or 4 follicles, so that's a little scary but SOOOO exciting at the same time. I would love a big family and all the chaos that comes with it?. Yeah, it?s what I say now....
Good luck to the ladies going through IUI or IVF and hope this is THE month for all of us!!!!!
I will keep you all posted and thank you again and baby dust to all!!!
Going for my first of two IUIs today!!!!! In 30 miniutes. I can't wait!!!!!!!
We are doing our first IUI cycle this month, unmedicated. I am in the minority on this board- I am terrified of having multiples. Don't get me wrong, I would be ecstatic to be having them and would welcome them with open arms, but it would be a game changer for MH and I- with child care, financially, etc. I have a few friends with twins and they have a lot of help and it's still overwhelming. But the odds are not 1 in 4 for IUI generally, I think that number has to do with the gonal-f and how many mature follicles you have. Obviously for the unmedicated cycle, my chances are the same as TI. With clomid and femara, the chances are only slightly higher from what I've read.
Here's hoping you get your twins!
I wanted to share with you all a little experiment I did, mostly to keep me sane during this 2WW?.
Of course I wanna start testing early this month because of the IUI, but the issue is that I took a shot of Ovidrel and I have heard that it takes 14 days for the Hcg to get out of your system. I just couldn?t accept that fact, mostly because that would mean I need to wait until the 14thof December for my blood test to find out if the IUI did us good. SO, 3DPO I take a pregnancy test and it?s positive, obviously because of the Ovidrel. I called the hotline and they tell me that it takes 3 days for the Hcg to leave my system, which is not true. Anyway, the point of the exercise is to test until I get a negative, just to make sure that when I test early and if I do get a positive (fingers crossed) it?s a true positive. I?ve been testing every day and I got a negative yesterday, 6DPO. YAEY! This means I can test early without a worry of it being the Ovidrel. I?m gonna start testing 9DPO, so whish me luck!!!!!!
Btw, I bought the tests online for very cheap; no way would I waste more that 80 cents a day LOL.
Cheers and Baby Dust to All!
