Confession thread

I'm getting really bad about not reaching for paper towels lately...  I should figure a better way to have my nonpaper towels handy, but often, lately, I cop out and reach for the paper towel roll (which, with a dog, we'll never be getting rid of - there are certain things that I'd rather just pick up and completely toss, I'm afraid).

Re: Confession thread

  • I am looking forward to painting my bedroom as much as I am having that time alone.

There are nights, like yesterday, when I wish dd was night weaned. Some nights I would just like to fall asleep and not have someone attached to me.

  • I bought a roll of paper towels yesterday (for the first time in 3 years) because I'm having some friends w/ kids over on Friday to build gingerbread houses and don't want to have the "How do you live w/o paper towels" coversation.  I know I should not compromise my values just to avoid the "you're weird" looks, but I just can't deal right now.

  • I'm planning on purchasing frozen breakfast pastries for my family who is spending the night on Wednesday night. We needed something quick and easy to feed everyone for breakfast on Thursday and whole foods didn't really have any frozen pastries, so I'm getting them from the conventional store.
  • I'm ready for it to be next Tuesday.  I'm a little apprehensive about the giant turkey cooking/people hosting Thanksgiving day plans and the closer I get to the 2 year anniversary of my dad's death the spazzier I start to feel.  I'm in a funk & I just don't feel like celebrating or pretending to have fun.  And then that makes me feel guilty because my family deserves to have nice Thanksgivings without me being all Debbie Downer every year.

  • At this very minute, i want to go back to work. I'd rather deal with behaviorally terrible teens who can't live in the community (because of their behavior), than my own infant.  I can't walk 3 feet away from him, At least the teens I can leave with a staff member to deal with them.  EmbarrassedCrying

I'm seriously considering paper plates for Thanksgiving. I'm exhausted all the time and reaching over my belly to wash dishes really kills my back.

Also, the friends joining us this year aren't my closest friends, so I don't feel comfortable asking them to pitch in w/the clean up, and I don't really care about making things nice for them. Oh, well!

  • I may have gone to Costco on my lunch hour and bought the boys matching holiday outfits.

I figure with J turning 5 in Feb, it's probably my last opportunity to do so.  :)

  • I'm not looking forward to Thanksgiving because I don't want to deal with the ridiculous family dynamics.  I wish it could just be the 4 of us.

Evan has been really whiny lately.  He didn't get a good nap today again so I'm not looking forward to the rest of tonight either since I'm on my own until DH gets home at 7/8.  :-l

I'm sick of the constant BS with my job too.  Some days I really want to just quit although I know I would be stupid too since it's such an ideal set-up.

  • I just got a bonus at work and am trying to plan out how to spend it the most responsibly. We have more medical bills and overdue credit card balances than the bonus would cover. Even though I know I should send it all to pay off debt I really want to frivolously spend some of it on CDs for M, mamacloth and work clothes for me......

  • I feel like we eat healthy. But every time I open the pantry I'm overwhelmed by the amount of canned food in there.

    sigh . . .

I'm with you on the paper towels though, some things should just go in the trash.

So I ask the question...what is the cause?  Post content? People posting? A general lack of interest in message boards?  Stick out tongue

I guess for me it's more IRL friends, combo'ed out with the board losing a bit of its EF zing.  I've learned a lot from you ladies, and you can still be pretty helpful, but I guess I'm just a little bored.  I promise to check in a few times a week, though, and chime in a bit.  There are babies to see, after all!
