When can I expect smiling?

My girls will be 8 weeks old on thursday. They were due Nov. 8th, I don't know the adjusted age? They were born at 34.3 weeks.

My question is when can I expect them to smile while they are awake, not just smiling in their sleep. They have gotten soo much more alert adn I feel like they are on the verge of smiling.

What do you think?

  • My 33 weeker started to really smile more and at me around 3 1/2 months.  But each child is different.

I'd say give them some more time, as hard as that is and believe me, it will warm your heart (made me cry) when she did smile at me.  Just wait until they giggle!

  • My baby boy is definitely smiling now.  He even seemed like he was watching his Baby Einstein DVDs more today than previous months.

  • My 36 weeker smiled once at six weeks and now they're few and far between.  Today she must have been really happy, because she smiled 3 times.

  • We were 2 1/2 adjusted months
  • my twins were born at 34.6 wks and my little girl has been smiling since about 2.5 months.  my little man just started a little bit.   I  think it has a lot to do with their dispositions.  Hudson seems to be a very serious little guy compared to my girls.

  • Katie Beth started smiling at 11 weeks, 4 weeks adjusted.  They weren't just random smiles either, they were real ones.  Now, 3 weeks later, it seems like she's going to burst into laughter just any minute.  I love it!

BTW, if your twins are 8 weeks old and were born at 34 weeks, they are 2 weeks adjusted.
