Thanks to this board we decided to name potential DS #2 August William.
I just looked up the popularity of August within the last 100 years on the Social Security web site, and it has risen 200 places just in the past 5 years. Does that indicate a serious trend?
I see a lot of posters on this board love the name August. It's a family name for us (my great-grandfather's MN) and the only name DH and I can agree on. We don't like popular names though, and I would hate for it to turn into the next Aidan.
What do you ladies think? Is this the next hot new name?
TIA for any thoughts.
Re: Talk to me about name trends...
I really dont think August will ever be the next Aiden. It hasn't jumped significantly enough.
August has a few variants but I think the one most popular on this particular board is Augustus. Here's a link about trends:

I don't think it will "be the next Aidan" but I do think we will hear more and more August- names in the next couple of years.
Just my 2 cents on popularity, but William is a classic. Its popularity does not make it trendy. Also: many Williams are being called Liam, so that makes a difference, too.
I also don't think August will ever even crack the top-50 (just my opinion). I wouldn't shy away from either one due to popularity.
