1st Trimester

Working out + bleeding TMI?

I have been working out about 3 days a week for ever now and prior to getting pregnant.  I usually do about 20 min on the elliptical and then some legs.  Today was the first day that when I got home I had very very little spotting and it was more brown....do I have to worry?  And the funny thing is, is I didn't over do it...I went much slower than I normally do.

  • I worked out ona regular basis before I was pregnant. On a Tuesday, I went for a mile walk then did some light lifting at work. The next day, I had a lot of brown spotting. I went into the Dr. and she said it was probably from that. She also said I shouldn't lift anything heavier than a gallon of milk or walk more than twenty minutes and a day and it shouldn't be at a brisk pace. I disagree with walking thing, but I am doing it for now until I got my regular doctor on the second.

  • I have had some on and off spotting of stringy brown discharge. My OB says that as long it is not like a full on period or more than spotting I should be fine. But if it makes you feel better call your OB or just call the info line.

  • I've been working out too, nothing more than I did pre-pg.  Running (up to 4 miles), weights, abs, ect - and no spotting.  

    My widwife also told me not to lift anything over 10lb, I laughed in her face.  DS was sitting in the room with us.  Does she seriously not expect me to pick up my son for 9 months?

  • The book I'm reading says that spotting is normal after exercise or sex as long as it is dark brown or light pink in color.  Don't lift anything over 10 pounds and traditional school of thought says not to let your heart rate get above 140, although lots of people disagree with that these days.  :)
