Adoption

Would this be weird?

When we brought DD home from the hospital, her BM and BGM gave us pictures of DD's BM throughout her life. I've been thinking about them a lot and just found them in DD's baby book. I was thinking of putting her BM's baby picture in a frame to put in her room, and updating it with other pictures of her BM as DD gets close to the same age.

Not weird, right?

Re: Would this be weird?

  • Not weird at all.  Very sweet and thoughtful, in fact.

  • We have pictures of DD's BM and BGP in her room. She ask who they are every now and again. She also ask who we are sometimes. LOL.

  • You are incredible lucky to have those photos.  I think it would be an extra special way of acknowledging the bond between her and her BM.  It will also help with the ineveitable adopted child question of "Who do I look like?" if she looks anything like her BM.

  • I think that's a wonderful idea!  We plan on keeping a picture in the nursery if it's available!  It's awesome that you have those!

It really is. We have an infant picture of DD's BM, one of her around age 2 or 3, one around age 7, her HS graduation photo, and a couple photos of her with her parents and siblings. Totally unexpected, and we're so happy to havce them.

  • not weird at all!
Married on 3.20.2004. It took 30 month, 2 failed adoptions and IVF for our first miracle. We have had 9 foster kids since he was born and started the domestic adoption process when he was 10 month old, we had 4 failed matches in that time. After our daughter was born we brought her home and spent 2 weeks fearing we might lose her because of complications that came up. But Praise God all went through and she is ours forever! • That's awesome! What a gift.
  • Not weird at all!!  I love the idea and think it will be very meaningful to your DD.
  • Not weird at all. I think it's awesome. What a gift for your DD to have as she grows. We have pictures of Luke's bio siblings that their parents send of the boys at milestones that Luke is at. It's so cool to see how similar they are. I love having that connection for him.
