My Mom bought M a 4 pack of juice for Halloween and keeps asking me if I've gim any yet. I haven't. For some reason every time I reach to get them I pull away, I think I'm actually scared to give him juice. When did you start giving LO juice? It's 100% juice, no extra sugar or anything. And I know you're supposed to dilute with water. M has a 4oz bottle of formula when he gets his baby food/rice cereal mix....should I subsitute that with juice? I kinda feel stupid about this!
Re: juice?
I wouldn't give juice that young. DD is almost 2 and I am just now giving her pressed cider with pulp about once a day. I fill her cup with ice then add a couple oz of juice which gets watered down all day.
Thankfully doing the juice she inst harassing my mom for her diet tea with splenda in it anymore. That though is a whole other rant.
no juice.
lol
We give water and milk and that's it. She knows no different. I have the same issue as Lady G though, my mother likes to give A sweet tea from McD's every time she comes over... Luckily I can run w/ the "everything in moderation" on that one. Though I ask her repeatedly not to give it to her.
I have given her juice in the past maybe twice... around 6 mo for constipation and then she got some cider at the pumpkin patch this year as a treat. That's it though. I see no need. She eats her fruits well so why give her the extra sugar, ya know? I would rather her have water, personally.
Evan still hasn't had juice yet, and he probably won't until he asks for it by name :-)
Eli only gets a splash of juice in water, and he's still never tasted soda. I just don't see the point nutritionally.
Big E (6) & Little E (2.5)
Even now, juice is a huge rarity for DS. It's not as good as fruit and fills them up for stuff they really should be having more of. I'd say 5 months is way too early for my personal sense of what is 'ok', but I know I don't have even most of the answers.
The nice thing about him not having juice much, is he doesn't ask for it and in some cases where he's been offered, he prefers water or milk. He still loves his fruit, though. For me, win win!
