Mine is a cultural side dish, not exactly traditional, but my dad makes morros which is rice and black beans all mixed together, not the separate one. It's his mother's recipe, my grandmother, and it is totally my favorite thing! I recently learned how to make them, finally and this year I'm going to make them for Thanksgiving! Eek! I'm a little nervous about making it for such a large number of people, but I think I can do it!!
Anyway, besides that, I love all things pumpkin, not exactly side dishes, but faves nonetheless - pumpkin bread and pumpkin pie.
'candied' yams and string bean casserole. Thanksgiving is my favorite holiday, it really is the only one where just about everything is shut down and it is not religious based.

Hmm.. This is a tough one. But gun to my head, if I had to pick one, it would probably be stuffing because we only ever eat it on Thanksgiving. Corn souffle is a close second.
Sweet potatoes!! And Beth, the cranberry sauce sounds delicious!!!!

ahh I don't think I can pick just one! I love pumpkin pie, I guess I'll go with that. I only eat it this time of year, while we do make other fav sides like green bean casserole and candied yams for Passover and the like... so my choice is pumpkin pie - and lots of it!!
Even though I make it multiple times a year...mashed potatoes and gravy. lol I LOVE LOVE Thanksgiving though especially turkey with mashed potatoes and gravy. I haven't been hungry for anything lately and am watching my sodium so I can't wait for Thanksgiving Day!
Re: IHO Thanksgiving: side dish poll
I totally have to agree. My votes for 2 dishes I always seem to make for the family, since its their favorites also.
Acorn Squash - baked with honey, cinnamon and crushed pistachios
and
Corn Casserole Yummy!
